I've done many activities where I've learned life skills and values. Especially in sports or activities involving a group and someone in charge! You are coached by adults that already have experience in the real world. They always give words of wisdom, which should be taken down as notes sometimes! One can learn a lot of life lessons through the hobbies/activities they do.
Activities involving groups or teams can teach respect for yourself and others. Being on a team forces trust and bonding between the players. Even if you lose or someone "lets the whole team down", everyone goes down together. This causes us as humans to strive together and make one another better. Winning is the main goal of sports, so the team comes together in order to win. This creates equality and relationships between the players.
Playing on a drum line and lacrosse team has taught me to acknowledge others and help out. There is no "I" in "team", meaning there is no room for selfishness. I was taught that the goal of the team overshadows personal goals and feelings. I transfer these values in and out of school because it causes people to trust and feel comfortable around me.
