One can learn so much by observing someone else do an activity. Watching someone do something allows the brain to analyze what is going, which is interesting. The brain learns more about activities by noticing patterns, memorizing movement, and transferring the information to the muscles in your body. These skills are extremely useful in sports and instrumentals! This brain activity causes your muscles to remember it through muscle memory.
In a sport, one can learn how to do things by watching others run plays, do the fundamentals, or position themselves. I play lacrosse and I learned how to position myself for defense by watching others in games/practice. Being told where to go was too complicated to me when I first started playing because I didn't know anything about the setup on the field. I learned the fundamentals such as passing, throwing, and picking up the ball by watching other players do it. To me it was an easier way to learn than being told how to do things.
I also play instruments. I was able to teach myself how to play the clarinet, but learning how to play percussion instruments is a different story! Learning how to play percussion instruments was difficult because I knew how to play an instrument that was nothing like percussion. I wasn't able to be told how to play because I did not have the muscle strength or memory! Learning was extremely difficult at first because I did not understand the fundamentals of playing. I ended up learning how to play by watching others drum.
